Pentapeptide-18 reduces the depth of wrinkles on the face caused by the contraction of muscles of facial expression, especially in the forehead and around the eyes. It targets the wrinkle-formation mechanism of expression wrinkles in a new way, offering an alternative to peptides like Acetyl hexapeptide-3.

Pentapeptide-18 is a peptide to reduce expression wrinkles that offers two main advantages:

• A new and alternative in vitro mechanism to fight expression wrinkles.
• An additive / synergistic effect to complement the action of Acetyl hexapeptide-3 and other peptides.

Pentapeptide-18's mechanism mimics in vitro the natural mechanism of enkephalins: it couples to the enkephalin receptor, on the outside of the nerve cells.  When Pentapeptide-18 couples to the receptor, a conformational change initiates a cascade inside the neuron that results in a decrease of its excitability:  the nerve cell’s activity is “turned down” and the release of acetylcholine is modulated. Muscle contraction will be relaxed and therefore, expression wrinkles can be diminished.

Incorporation: Pentapeptide-18 Peptide Solution should be incorporated at the end of the emulsion, at cool down, below 40C (104F).

Long Term Storage:

Pentapeptide-18 should be stored in the original sealed containers protected from light in a clean and cool place and is best kept in the refrigerator. Long term storage recommended between 39.2° – 44.6°F (4° - 7°C). If stored properly, it should have a shelf life of up to 24 months.
